The North East looks set for more sunshine and pleasant springtime weather as we head into the weekend.
Leading meteorologists, the Met Office have forecast higher temperatures than are normally expected for this time of year in the North East. The warm weather should be accompanied with sunny spells and patchy cloud.
They said to expect the following conditions over the course of the day: "Any early mist and fog patches soon clearing to leave a fine and dry day, with some patchy cloud but also sunny spells. Becoming warm, with temperatures well above the seasonal average, and light winds. Maximum temperature 19 °C."

Over the course of the evening, the temperature is, however, likely to plummet quickly with some patchy mist and fog a possibility, as has been the custom so far this week. They said to expect the following:
"Dry with long clear periods and light winds, allowing temperatures to quickly fall. Becoming chilly with perhaps some patchy mist and fog forming, particularly in rural locations. Minimum temperature 1 °C."
