Hour-by-hour Bristol weather forecast as Storm Ciara brings 'severe gales' up to 56mph

The will be bringing heavy rain and severe gales to Bristol throughout today (February 9).

A Met Office amber warning for strong winds now covers much of England, including Bristol and will be in place until 9pm this evening.

The Met Office has warned people who are travelling to expect disruption during this time, as well as the risk of flying debris and power cuts.

Like much of the country, Bristol can expect some very wet and windy weather, with heavy rain expected from around 10am this morning.

The heavy downpours will then continue until around 5pm in the afternoon, which is when Bristolians can expect a mixture of light and heavy showers until the end of the day.

Severe gales are also expected and gusts of up to 56mph are expected according to the Met Office.

According to the weather agency's south west forecast for today: "Through the morning, a band of rain, heavy at times, will move through the region.

"Gales or severe gales are likely through the day. The rain will clear to squally showers in the afternoon with the odd sunny spell.

"Maximum temperature 14C."
