Hounslow deaths: Police treating mother’s death as murder

Detectives investigating the deaths of four members of the same family have confirmed they are treating the death of the mother as murder.

Monika Wlodarczyk was found dead in a flat in Hounslow on Friday along with her 11-year-old daughter Maja and three-year-old son Dawid, as well as her husband Michal.

Police confirmed that post-mortem examinations carried out on Sunday showed Monika died after “multiple sharp force injuries” while Michal died from “sharp force injuries to the neck”.

Post-mortem examinations for the two children will begin on Wednesday at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

A spokesman for the Met said: “It is not yet known on which date the four people died. Police were called by Maja’s school at 15:12hrs on Friday, 16 June, since they and her friends were concerned that she had not attended school since Monday, 12 June, and family members had not replied to messages.

“Officers forced entry to the family home – a flat in Staines Road, Bedfont - a short time later, where the four bodies were found.”

Inquests will open and adjourn on Tuesday June 20 at West London Coroner’s Court.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to assure the community that specialist detectives continue to investigate the circumstances which led to this tragic incident and I will continue to provide further updates as soon as appropriate. We are also continuing to support family members at this unimaginably difficult time.

“The situation remains that we are not currently seeking anybody else in connection with the incident.

"We are however retaining an open mind, and I would ask anyone who feels they have pertinent information to contact us as soon as possible.

“Officers remain at the location and forensic examination of the flat is ongoing.”

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to call 101, quoting reference 5135/16Jun.
