A hotel worker has warned Brits that they should always switch off the lights when first arriving in a hotel room - or they could end up facing some gross consequences.
Halee, who says she has worked in the hotel industry for 15 years, revealed some of her top tips for checking in to a hotel, and explained that you could be putting yourself at risk of being bitten by bed bugs if you don't do some simple checks.
In a short video shared on TikTok, Halee showed a couple waking up in a hotel room covered with bites.
She explained that she always packs a torch before heading on holiday, and issued a stark warning to turn off the lights when you first arrive in a new place.
She recommended: "Turn off lights, close any shades, and use the flashlight on your phone."

Using the torch, she then always checks under the bed, as well as any nooks and crannies, warning that bed bugs like "corners and the creases" of bedding and linen.
She added: "The reason you should check your bed with the lights off is because bed bugs are actually nocturnal so they’re more likely to be out and about looking for their prey."
Other checks to make include looking for any blood spots on fabrics, as well as inspecting the mini fridge, curtains and an ironing board if there is one.
She urged that you check the room before unpacking your bags, or you could risk bed bugs crawling into your luggage.
It's not the first time that a travel insider has warned holidaymakers to be wary of the bugs.
One flight attendant has previously revealed how to avoid bringing them back in your luggage as it can be so easy for them to get into your bags and leave you with unwanted guests when you head home.
The cabin crew member explained: "I went and got those giant Ziploc bags. They are great for putting in smelly dirty clothes in, as well as clean clothes so all your stuff is separate.
"I still spray the outside of my bag for dust mites and bedbugs, but at least I know the stuff inside is clean and doesn't smell because it's in those giant Ziploc bags."
