Hotel worker given £1.3m in Avon cosmetics heiress divorce

A hotel concierge worker who earns £35,000 a year has just been given £1.3million in a divorce payout after the breakdown of his marriage to an Avon cosmetics heiress.

Anil Ipekci married Morgan McConnell, who is the great-granddaughter of Avon Products’ American founder David H McConnell in late 2005.

She is the beneficiary of trusts worth at least £49 million, Mr Justice Mostyn had been told.

The pair met in New York in 2003 after he had been made bankrupt and was working as a concierge at a hotel in the city, and he had no money beyond his earnings, the judge heard.

Detail of the case was outlined in a ruling given by Mr Justice Mostyn on Thursday following a private trial in the Family Division of the High Court in London.

The judge said the two adults, who are both 45, could be named in media reports of the case, but he ordered that images of them - and their children - not to be published in the press.
