Hotel Transylvania 2 review – Adam Sandler returns with fangless sequel

Trick or treat? The original Hotel Transylvania animation was enough of a hit in 2012 to spawn a second movie. So here we go again with more straight-ahead comedy, family-oriented gothic – this one co-written by Adam Sandler, who once again voices Count Dracula – just in time for Halloween: staple TV and cinema fare from the days of the Addams Family and The Munsters.

In the first film, Dracula was perplexed to see a human guy show up at the hotel he runs for his fellow beasties, and even more bemused to see that his daughter Mavis was falling for him. Now they’re married and having a baby. Will it be human or vampire? Will they live in Transylvania or at home in California? Dracula is now the lovably overbearing-adoring grandpa whose interfering causes wacky scrapes. A fangless sequel.
