Hotel staff share bizarre items forgotten by guests from an urn to a unicorn

When you're staying in a hotel, it's easy to forget an item or two when you leave, but usually this tends to be the likes of phone chargers or toothbrushes.

However, Travelodge staff have revealed some of the bizarre items left behind over the last 12 months including a unicorn, giant glittery moon and even an urn filled with ashes.

The budget hotel chain says it welcomed 19 million guests over the last year, so it's no surprise that staff have faced a few bizarre forgotten items.

However, one recurring theme was that of weddings, with both guests and members of the wedding party being left behind.

We're talking the likes of bridal Louboutin Swarovski shoes, a bejwelled wedding sari, and even fun props such as a five-foot-high unicorn made of flowers and a giant glittery moon which had served as a photo backdrop.

Oh, and at Torquay Travelodge, it wasn't even just an item; but a best man!

Having overslept, he was left behind by the wedding party, and staff had less than an hour to help him reach the ceremony on Burgh Island. (Good news - he made it in time!).

In some cases, there have been items left behind which had sentimental value for guests.

For example, one guest forgot a 65-year-old Bonsai Tree which had been in his family for generations, while another visitor was distressed after having forgotten the urn containing their father's ashes.

(The items were luckily returned to their owners).

Another bizarre finding was an autograph book packed with signatures, as the owner had been filling it up for 30 years and brought it along when they headed out to a concert - again, they were quickly reunited with their beloved possession.

You can check out the full list of the weirdest items left behind below...
