Hotel rooms with amazing views of stadium grounds including Manchester and Blackpool

If you've missed out on the scrabble for a match day ticket, then there is still hope as across the UK, there are hotels with rooms looking directly out onto stadium grounds and pitches.

On days when the stands are filled to the rafters and a seat simply can't be bought, these pitch-side digs offer the perfect back-up option.

Not only do some have prime views of the spectacle below, they allow fans to watch the game from the comfort of their own bed with a minibar drink in hand and room service snack on the side table.

What could be nicer than tucking into a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning, relaxing with a coffee in the hotel bar before sitting back in a towelled dressing gown to watch the game in complete privacy?

Here are five of the best UK hotels with views onto the pitch.

Coventry is a good place to go if you want to kick back and watch some sport (Expedia)

Blackpool Football Stadium Hotel

In recent years Blackpool Football Club has been in turmoil as groups of fans have fought to oust its previous owners following a fall through the English divisions.

With the club's fortunes now seeming to be turning around again, there are worse times to book into its amazing pitch-side hotel.

Blackpool Football Club Stadium Hotel is a Radisson Individuals joint which has a terrace, bar, spa and restaurant, as well as rooms with plum views over the stadium.

In some of the best suites you can lie in bed while watching the match below.

DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes

MK Dons can be watched from the comfort of your own room at the Doubletree (Expedia)

Anyone who has been to Milton Keynes knows that the reputation which proceeds it in some quarters is sorely undeserved.

The new town is built on a modern grid system which is unlike any other UK town, yet makes it perfect for a day whizzing around on a publicly rentable electric scooter, visiting the plentiful green spaces and fun bars.

From the station, away fans can zoom down a winding track straight to the MK Dons Stadium where rooms can be rented via Expedia at the DoubleTree, which look out into the stadium.

Holiday Inn Norwich City, an IHG Hotel

Some of the Holiday Inn Norwich City rooms are pitch side (Expedia)

After a lengthy spell at the complimentary breakfast buffet, at the Holiday Inn Norwich City you can spend the day working out at the onsite gym, chairing a meeting in the conference centre, and then watching the Canaries going at it from your hotel room desk.

One room has two double beds lined up next to each other besides a window looking out onto the stadium and in front of a large TV, meaning every angle of the game will be covered.

DoubleTree by Hilton Coventry Building Society Arena

One of the room views from the DoubleTree by Hilton Coventry Arena (Expedia)

Anyone who has recently forked out for a premium room at the DoubleTree in Coventry hoping to see the rugby, probably couldn't have done so at a worse time.

Following financial turmoil at the Premiership club, Wasps stopped playing at the stadium at the end of 2022.

Football fans can still go and see Coventry City compete in the Championship from the hotel, which has some amazing views out onto the stadium.

Trafford penthouse apartment

The penthouse looks out over Trafford (Expedia)

Unluckily for Manchester United fans, the club's varying fortunes over the past decades have not made match tickets any cheaper or easier to get hold of, and there is no handy hotel overlooking the Old Trafford pitch.

There are some incredibly convenient places to stay a stone's throw from the stadium however, including Hotel Football, which can be booked on Hotels.com.

Those wanting to stay inside their room to take in the sport may be tempted by this penthouse apartment on Vrbo, which looks out on the nearby cricket ground.

In the summer England often play tests and one-day games at the stadium, making it a lovely spot on a warm summer's day.
