Hotel rooms in Manchester have TREBLED in price for Parklife weekend - with rates topping £500 a night

The cost of a night in a hotel has spiked in Manchester next weekend, as Parklife makes its long-awaited return.

The huge festival will be back at Heaton Park on September 11 and 12, and as is common when a large event rolls into town, demand for overnight accommodation has soared.

Hotels in the city centre are now selling for up to £700 a night as prices treble at some venues.

According to hotel booking platform Booking.com, 94 per cent of Manchester's accommodation is now unavailable on September 11.

The cheapest available rate at the time of writing for the Saturday of Parklife is £320, at the Trivelles Hotel in Salford.

Even Manchester's hotels under the Britannia Hotels umbrella - usually some of the cheapest rooms, if not the mostly highly-reviewed - have hiked up their booking costs.

Sacha's in the Northern Quarter is charging £469 a night over Parklife weekend - and that's for a room without windows.

It's almost treble the price of the same weekend in October, where rooms are going for £179.

Festival-goers have begun to sell their hotel bookings on Twitter to people who've left accommodation to the last minute.

Rooms are still available in some of the city's best hotels - you could spend the night in luxury at the Kimpton Clocktower for £702, Dakota Manchester for £563, or Hotel Gotham for £679.

Some of the city centre's newest hotels still have availability too, including Qbic and Native.

Parklife itself will take place at Heaton Park between September 11 and 12 and is one of the first major events to take place in the region since the pandemic began last year.

Headliners for 2021 include Dave, Megan Thee Stallion and Disclosure.
