A rough sleeper was reportedly refused a night in a hotel after Good Samaritans attempted to come to his aid.
The homeless man, Paul, had been approached while camped on Wolstanton Marsh in North Staffordshire on Tuesday.
After hearing his story, a kind woman from the town took to social media to see if she could do anything to help, Stoke Sentinel reported.
Many people dug deep to assist the man in need, only for the hotel they'd book him into to block the stay because he did not have ID.
In the original post asking for help, the Good Samaritan wrote: "I am here right now with Paul the guy from the red tent on the marsh - he is such a pleasure to talk to and my heart breaks.

"I’ve rang around and everywhere is full - the woman from the rough sleeper team has said he will get one cup of coffee and a welfare check at 6am each morning."
The woman also claimed three teenagers had kicked Paul's tent.
She then asked: "What the hell is that all about? Is there anything we can all do tonight? What if we get this chap a hotel?
"To top it off three teenage lads have kicked his tent! Shame on them!"
Another woman then came forward to say a room had been booked for the night.
But in an update on social media, she posted: "So so sorry to all who have helped. Paul is unfortunately back in his tent on the marsh.
"We had taken him to the hotel but they wouldn’t let him stay because he has no ID.
"The lady who paid for the hotel also came to meet us - they refused him. The system failed him.
"Please keep teenagers away from this poor guy everyone deserves a chance, they just need a hand sometimes."
It is not known which hotel turned Paul away.
