Hotel of the week: Six Senses Krabey Island, Cambodia

At the southern tip of Cambodia, you’ll find a 30-acre island surrounded by crystalline waters.

From the air, the island looks untouched, with treetops awning the landscape. But on closer inspection, you’ll find that this idyllic island is home to the latest offering from the Six Senses hotel brand.

Six Senses Krabey Island will open in March this year, and for our first instalment of our hotel of the week series, we’ve taken a sneak peek inside the new luxury offering.

The vibe

Tranquillity wrapped in a blanket of privacy. This ultra-luxe hotel is comprised of 40 pool villas, each with a private plunge pool, sunbathing deck and some with outdoor showers. The island features an all-day restaurant that will serve seasonally-themed meals and an ice cream parlour is also planned. Expect to be neighboured by the elite - though you'll never see them as each villa surrounded by thick forest and with glistening ocean views.

Who for?

Serenity seekers. Find your inner zen inside the on-site meditation cave or star-gazing at the planned island observatory.

What to Instagram

A shot of you watching the sunset over the ocean while lounging in the infinity pool will make you feel like you’ve reached #influencer status.

Known for

Six Sense hotels are known for their signature Six Senses spas and Krabey Island is no different. Their spa features a Six Senses speciality menu accompanied by several ancient Cambodian healing traditions. You can also choose from multi-day ‘rejuvenation journeys’, as well as wellness, detox and yoga workshops.

How to get there

Cathay Pacific offer flights from London Heathrow to Phnom Penh International Airport starting at £535 return. From there, it is a 3.5 hour drive to the mainland jetty or a 40-minute connecting flight to Sihanoukville Airport which is a 10-minute drive to the jetty. The hotel’s reception is on the mainland and, once checked in, you’ll be taken by boat transfer to the island.

Six Senses Krabey Island will open in March 2019, rates to be confirmed ahead of opening. For more information, visit sixsenses.com
