A hotel on the Canary Islands has been quarantined after an Italian citizen who visited the resort tested positive for coronavirus.
More than 1,000 people are believed to be on lock down at the Tenerife hotel, named locally as the H10 Costa Adeje Palace.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed the infection, adding that the same protocol put in place for suspected cases in other parts of Spain has now been activated locally.
Tests performed at Tenerife's Our Lady of La Candelaria University Hospital came back positive on Monday.

The patient is set to be transferred to the National Center for Microbiology of the Carlos III Health Institute in Madrid today (February 25) for additional screenings.
Canary Islands president Angel Victor Torres said on Monday: "This afternoon/evening the coronavirus protocol has been activated for an Italian citizen in the south of Tenerife.
"The result from the first test carried out in the Canaries is positive.
"Tomorrow (February 25) they will be done again in Madrid. The patient has been isolated."
The virus has been confirmed in more than 35 countries, with Italy seeing the highest number of cases across Europe.
