A city centre hotel was evacuated this morning leading to a large-scale response from fire crews
At around 9am crowds of guests at the Exchange Street Travelodge were seen standing in the pouring rain after an emergency alarm sounded at the hotel. In footage taken from the incident, hotel guests and holidaymakers can be seen standing in large crowds outside the building, during a short dry spell, as fire teams enter the building.
The Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed four fire engines had been called to the scene, along with an aerial appliance. However, they said the response was merely precautionary, and confirmed the alarm was eventually reset at 9.54am, before they left the scene at 10am.
