Hot weather arrives in time for Easter weekend as Glasgow faces mini heatwave

It’s the news everyone has been rejoicing about this week - a mini heatwave on the way, and just in time for Easter.

With things heating up in Glasgow today and looking set to hit 22 degrees on the thermometer soon, we’re in for a lovely bout of good weather - but will it last throughout the bank holiday weekend?

Well Glasgow, we have good news and bad.

As of tomorrow (Thursday), the Met Office predicts a maximum temperature of 19C - and it could rise as high as 22C on Friday, with plenty of sunshine forecast too.

Saturday will be another warm day, with highs of 20C predicted - but the clouds will roll in with it, so you might not need those sunglasses as much, followed by a fall in temperature and more clouds on Sunday and Monday.

Met Office Chief meteorologist Steve Willington said: "From Wednesday (April 17) temperatures will start to rise day by day and with the sun getting stronger at this time of year, it’s going to feel warm or very warm by the time we get to Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

“It currently looks like more changeable and cooler weather will arrive from the northwest from Easter Sunday, however there remains the chance that southeastern parts of the country could remain warm and settled into Easter Monday.

“With this uncertainty in mind, our advice is to keep up to date with the latest forecast if you are making plans.”

The Met Office may be unsure of what’s to come next week - but early indications show more warm and sunny weather on the way for Glasgow, with temperatures hovering around 16 to 18C until next Friday.

We’re keeping everything crossed that this weekend’s mini ‘heatwave’ is a sign of things to come - now, to the nearest beer garden?
