LOS ANGELES_Having moved on to larger accommodations in Hancock Park earlier this year, Damon Wayans is ready to part with his ocean view on the Westside. The comic actor has put his condo in Santa Monica on the market for $6.5 million.
At that price, the comic actor stands to more than double his money on the condo _ records show he bought the property in 2005 for $3 million.
The 3,093-square-foot pied-a-terre is in a 16-unit building constructed in 1997 and is one of only four top-floor condos. An open floor plan includes a formal dining room, a living room with a fireplace, an eat-in kitchen, two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
A den is currently being used as a media room/office, and there's also an enclosed laundry room off the kitchen. The master suite, with two walk-in closets, his and hers bathrooms and a fireplace, takes in views of Palisades Park and the coastline.
An ocean-facing balcony is shared by the common areas and the master bedroom.
Other perks of the residence include 24-hour concierge service and access to a workout facility and a rooftop lounge with a swimming pool. Two parking spaces are included with the unit.
For Wayans, entertainment is a family business. Among his siblings are actors Marlon Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Dwayne Wayans. He is the father of actor Damon Wayans Jr.; actor-writer-producer Damien Dante Wayans is his nephew.
The 55-year-old got his start in stand-up and created the comedy "In Living Color" in 1990 with his brother Keenan. Among his credits are the film comedies "Major Payne" (1995) and "Blankman" (1994) as well as the TV series "My Wife and Kids" (2001-05).
In March, Wayans closed on a home in the Hancock Park area for $5.35 million. The traditional-style compound, built in 1949 and extensively updated, includes a main house, a guesthouse, a swimming pool and a pool house on nearly half an acre _ plenty of room for immediate- and extended-family gatherings.
