Hot Flush heating up for stadium rock'n'roll domination

TOTALLY GLAM: Hot Flush are, from left, Preezie, Jo Jo, Lozzie and Suzie.

NEWCASTLE glam rock parody supergroup Hot Flush have arrived in a cloud of hairspray ready for rock'n'roll domination.

But beneath the make-up, outrageous posturing and keytar solos, lies four women hoping to inspire fellow middle-aged ladies to follow their own creative dreams.

"The world needs Hot Flush," says lead singer Lozzie while purchasing a new keytar at Muso's Corner. "Middle-aged women need Hot Flush. It's fun, it's sexy, we're breaking down barriers. You don't just disappear when you hit 50.

"We're all mothers, we've all had careers and it's really liberating and exciting to be musos for so long.

"That's what you normally do when you're 20, you make a band. Hot Flush is four best friends make a band, but at 50."

Lozzie teamed up with Preezie (drums), Jo Jo (bass) and Suzie (guitar) in 2016 when the four friends brainstormed the idea of Hot Flush at a harbourside restaurant.

"It was like lightning hit the water and we're the next supergroup," Lozzie says. "We have to do this."

Last November Hot Flush unveiled their first track Leg Warmers. The hilarious video, directed by cameraman and musician Erling Grnhaug, introduced Hot Flush's Spinal Tap-style of rock and created a buzz on social media.

On Sunday, to mark International Women's Day, the four-piece will release their second video Hot Flush.

The third single and video, Big Hair, will follow in April and the tracks Rock Attack, Chain Me With Your Rosary and Cheap Love will feature of the band's six-track debut EP.

There are also plans to take the music on tour, but don't expect to see Hot Flush doing pub gigs at the Cambridge Hotel.

"We are going to do live shows, but not unless it's a stadium," Lozzie says. "Minimum of 30,000. We need pyrotechnics and we need a hydraulic drum for Preezie.

"We might start at Wembley, but we're considering any stadium."
