His pre-fall show was at his sumptuous Mayfair flagship, but backstage Roland Mouret was being as French as ever, waxing lyrical on his favourite subjects: women, hot dresses and cooking.
Cooking? Oh yes. This was a storming collection, full of spot-on updates on the Roland Mouret signature look. For example, a killer-curve green dress, with that luxe-meets-filth full-length back zip, but given attention-grabbing newness thanks to an asymmetric black seatbelt strap snaking from one collarbone to its opposite shoulder blade. “I have my taste, and that will always be in any collection,” said Mouret. “It’s like cooking – I can make many dishes, but they all come from my hands.”
He can make these dresses and cook? Swoon.
