This Amazon Fire TV stick is currently 57% off in the Prime Big Deal Days sale

It seems like everyone has a smart TV these days, but if you can’t afford to upgrade your set at the moment, there’s no need for FOMO: I’ve got a hack to go around it.

Amazon’s upcoming Big Deal Days sale is back, running for 48 hours from October 7 - 8. The two-day sale will span thousands of products across various categories, but if it's a telly upgrade you’re after, point your mouse to Amazon’s Fire TV Stick.

The device revolutionises the TV watching experience, allowing you to access shows from iPlayer, Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, and so much more all in one place.

This streaming media player gadget supports Wi-Fi 6 and comes with a remote control with built-in Alexa functions to make it even easier to use. Simply plug the Fire into your HDTV port (usually at the business end of your TV set) and you’ll be able to start advanced 4K streaming on shows, browse the web and access music and apps in mere minutes.

You can also stream live camera feeds from elsewhere in the house, like the doorstep or nursery, with compatible smart home devices. That’s not all. You can also listen to music through Amazon Music, Spotify and Apple Music, or discover new favourites through TuneIn Radio.

Best of all, it’s portable too, so if you’re heading on holiday or want your favourite shows on business trips, simply take it all with you without having to remember all your passwords. With great sound and crystal clear picture quality, it’s the perfect addition to your home entertainment kit.

Amazon’s own line of tech usually sees some of the best discounts in the entire sale, and the Fire TV Stick is up there as a must-buy device - especially when it’s 57 per cent off the RRP.

But remember, if you want to take advantage of the price drop, you’ll need to have an Amazon Prime membership.

How much does Prime membership cost?

It costs £8.99 a month or £95 annually, and students can get it for half the price, so if you’ve got a young person living under your roof, consider nominating them as the account holder.

If you’re not quite ready to part with any money yet, there is one more avenue. Sign up for a free trial first to see how you like it - and take advantage of those juicy October Prime Big Deal Days in the meantime.

Is Amazon Prime worth signing up for?

I’ve been a fully paid-up member for nearly seven years, and would recommend it to anyone.

It’s not just express delivery that I appreciate - although that is incredibly convenient. From watching blockbuster releases on Prime Video (not to mention viral series such as The Summer I Turned Pretty and The Girlfriend) to flipping through digital magazines in Amazon Reading, I get loads out of my Prime membership - and I’m not even using all there is on offer. Gamers can plug into Amazon’s Twitch service, a huge library of epic games, and you can bag other perks like free Deliveroo delivery and money off recipe boxes too.

For the volume of services you get, membership might be Amazon’s best deal of all. With this Fire TV Stick coming a very close second, natch.
