SAITAMA -- Users of a public bath facility in Ogose, Saitama Prefecture, enjoyed the refreshing scent of yuzuyu, or a hot bath with yuzu citrus fruit floating in it, on the winter solstice on Monday.

Ogose is a major production area for yuzu. According to Japanese tradition, taking a yuzuyu bath on the day of the winter solstice makes one immune to catching a cold. Many yuzu fruits were put into the water in both the men's and women's baths at the O Park Ogose facility.

"I think [yuzuyu] feels very warming," a 74-year-old man who comes from Saitama City said with a smile.

Yuzuyu is available at the facility until Wednesday.
