Hostess cited after man's fatal fall from window during underage party

Dec. 27--A 21-year-old Wrigleyville woman was issued a dozen "social hosting" citations after throwing an alcohol-fueled party during which an underage man plunged from a third-story window and died this week.

Raquel Rodriguez, of the 3500 block of North Wilton Avenue, was cited with 12 city violations of the code for social hosting, police said.

An examination Wednesday of Danny McGovern, 20, determined he died of multiple injuries after falling from a window, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The Dec. 23 death of McGovern, of the 200 block of Gatesby Drive in west suburban Riverside, was ruled accidental, according to the medical examiner's office.

Officers responded to a disturbance and EMS call at Rodriguez's apartment when McGovern fell out of a third story window in the early morning hours of Tuesday, according to a police report.

Police saw McGovern being given medical aid by paramedics in the gangway outside the apartment building after suffering head injuries, the report said.

Police learned a commotion erupted as one of the witnesses found McGovern lying on the ground outside, and began doing chest compressions until paramedics got there, the report said.

Officers went up to the third floor apartment rented by Rodriguez who had thrown a party and saw "countless cans of beer, open bottles of liquer (sic) and cups in the living room, dining room and kitchen areas,'' according to the report.

Police checked the identifications of at least 12 witnesses, all of whom are under age 21, who admitted drinking alcohol, the report said.

Rodriguez, who was the "supervising adult" at the party, was arrested at 3:55 a.m.
