BHUBANESWAR: The school and mass education department on Wednesday took a decision to reopen hostels for students of classes X and XII from July 26, the day schools open for these classes. The department has also come up with a standard operating procedure (SOP) to run the hostels.
According to the SOP, there should be an isolation room inside the hostel and if some residents fall sick, she/he should be isolated immediately and proper care should be taken for her/his treatment. The head of the hostel or institute should ensure that students are kept at appropriate distance and in a staggered manner.
Common areas like mess and toilet should be well maintained and sanitized properly at regular intervals. Enough soap/hand sanitizer must be made available by the institutes for use by residents.
