Large numbers of armed police officers have rushed to a London building amid reports of a major incident.
Metropolitan Police officers stood outside Selbourne House just south of the River Thames in Southwark as of 9.30pm this evening.
The force said that a threat was made to an officer when they were called to the scene this afternoon.
Members of the public have been cleared from the street.
A witness said he had seen 30 armed officers at the scene.
Another witness noted several Territorial Support Group vans were parked on the perimeter.
Police officers, who appeared to be preparing to enter the building, have been spotted wearing breathing apparatus.

Several police cars are parked outside the building, while at least a dozen fire fighters have gathered by a fire engine.
One witness told the Mirror that the police had been on the street for several hours.
The Mirror has contacted the Metropolitan Police regarding the incident.
Just before 8pm the Force tweeted that there was an incident on Great Dover Street, which is next to Tabard Street.
"On Sat 2 Jan at 1412 hrs police attended a call to a disturbance at Great Dover Street, SE1," the tweet read.

"Due to threats made to officers, a multi-agency response was coordinated.
"At this time there is no known threat to public.
"Local auth and ward officers are in attendance to assist."
People living on the street have been told to stay inside by police officers.
