Host of Long Lost Family Davina McCall 'in bits' after latest emotional episode

TV personality Davina McCall has admitted to being left 'in bits' by the latest instalment of the ITV show Long Lost Family which proved to be emotional viewing on August 2.

The hit long-running programme can always be relied upon to tug on the heartstrings of its viewers as people go in search of answers to their past and ancestry; whether it be how they came to be adopted or assistance with tracking down relatives that they have never met before.

And, just like other episodes in the brand new series, August 2's edition of Long Lost Family took viewers on an emotional hour-long journey.

The latest episode saw Kate Brown desperate to track down her foster brother John, reports Chronicle Live.

53-year-old Kate was only a five-day-old tot when her birth mother, who suffered from severe epilepsy, decided she was unable to look after a child.

This led Kate to be placed in the foster care of Jim and Irene Barter, who had three children of their own.

The Barters also fostered a young boy called John but, while Kate ended up being adopted by them, John didn't and was moved back into a children's home.

Kate explained: "Unfortunately he was maybe a little bit too much for my adoptive mum to be able to handle."

Having developed a special bond with him, Kate was upset at being separated from him and had never given up hope of one day finding him.

However, after tracking down her adoption file, Kate discovered a life-changing secret - she had a biological sister she knew nothing about.

Kate's sister Maxine, three years older than Kate, was also adopted and, unbeknown to both women, they lived just three miles from each other as children.

Now known as Becky, Maxine had spent decades looking for Kate and there were tears as the two women met for the first time.

The Long Lost Family also managed to track down John, who talking about his foster care past, admitted feeling like 'a black sheep,' saying: "All the other children around me were getting adopted and I was sort of left out in the cold."

There was then another twist when it was revealed to John that he had a half sister, Sue, he knew nothing about

Sue reacted: "He's gone all this time where he's thought he's on his own and really and truly he's not on his own now. I want to be the big sister he never had."

And, having been giving a happier ending than he could ever hope for, John said: "I feel loved, now that I’ve got a sister, it’s better isn’t it. I’ve got two now! It’s brilliant."

Like millions of others, presenter Davina was left wiping away tears as the twists kept coming and took to Twitter to declare: "I'm in bits," before then returning to Twitter to post a series of crying emojis.

Quoting lines from the episode, the former Big Brother host then posted: “I’ll try and love him if he wants me to...he deserves to have a nice family, hopefully he can be happy with all of us."

Her Long Lost Family co-star Nicky Campbell was also incredibly moved, tweeting: "Well that was so so lovely," while, in agreement with a viewer who tweeted her, Davina said she was sending John 'a big hug."
