Hospital guard held from Faridabad for 21-year-old’s murder

GURUGRAM: A 54-year-old man was arrested from the Wazipur master road in Faridabad on Friday for allegedly strangulating a 21-year-old woman to death.

The police said that the woman’s parents had filed a complaint on December 31 last year that their daughter had gone missing. On January 5, the parents had received a call from the accused, informing them that their daughter had been murdered and that the her body had been thrown into the bushes near the Sector 17 canal bridge. Cops had then recovered the body and launched a search operation to nab the accused.

The murderer has been identified as Singhraj, who is a resident of Jasana in Faridabad and works as a guard in the City hospital.

During investigation, it was found that on December 31, the woman was walking in the market when she received a call from the accused who asked her to meet near the Sector 17/18 chowk. He purportedly took her on his bicycle and strangulated her on his way. Singhraj then threw her body in the bushes and fled with her mobile phone.

The accused and the victim’s maternal parents knew each other for nearly 10 years.

The whole incident is being looked into by the ACP (crime) and the man has been produced in a court. “We are fully investigating the matter. The ACP has himself taken cognizance of the matter,” a police officer informed.
