Hospital figures latest: Five people in Lanarkshire are in intensive care with coronavirus

The Scottish Government today said that 1541 people have now tested positive for coronavirus in Lanarkshire - up 21 from yesterday.

It comes as 1,703 patients across Scotland who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

And five people in Lanarkshire were in intensive care at midnight, with confirmed or suspected coronavirus.

The Scottish test numbers for May 6 show a total of 65,121 people have been tested across the country.

Of these:

■ 52,416 tests were confirmed negative

■ 12,709 tests were positive

■ 1703 patients who tested positive have died

■ 89 patients were in intensive care last night, with 79 of those having tested positive

■ There were 1204 people in Scottish hospitals confirmed with COVID-19 (including those in intensive care), and a further 428 where it was suspected.
