A mass brawl erupted among wedding guests at a luxury hotel leading to a dozen arrests and a hospital declaring a 'major incident'.

Cheshire Police were called to the Daresbury Park Hotel and Spa in Warrington on Wednesday evening following reports of a large scale disturbance.

Wedding party members reportedly barricaded themselves inside the function road at the Chester Road site when police arrived at the scene at around 11.30pm, the Warrington Guardian reports .

Officers arrested 12 people - aged between 18 and 52 - on suspicion of affray.

They remain in police custody.

Witnesses reported seeing around 30 police cars at the hotel.

One guest described how 'it was all kicking off' inside.

He said: “There were police everywhere, it was really bad.

“I could see it all happening out of my window, there’s still a massive police presence and it’s all cordoned off.

“There is blood all over the floor in the corridor."
