Hospital charity calls on crafters to make 11,000 face masks for NHS staff

A campaign is on to make face masks to protect NHS staff when they are not at work.

Charity Above & Beyond and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust are calling on the crafting community to help provide 11,000 masks.

The NHS workers need them when they are not working to protect them on trips to the shops, the petrol station and when out and about.

Wearing face masks when out and about is the new normal (PA)

All masks must follow a set pattern and be able to be washed at 60 degrees.

Sarah Pryer, Above & Beyond Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, said: "It's really important that we're supporting NHS staff not just when they're at work at the hospitals, but in their own time as well.

"By making a mask you're supporting our NHS staff through what has been a really challenging time for them."

Once complete please send your mask, including a note so they know the mask was made by an Above & Beyond volunteer, to:
