This is the terrifying moment horses sink on sand dunes.
The pictures, posted on social media by horse owner Claire Healy, 32, showed how her horses sunk in sand as she was riding with her daughter. Claire, from Pontypridd , was with daughter, Megan Bew, 14, when the incident took place on November 30. It was intended to be a normal day out riding, but things drastically took a turn for the worse when they were on their way back from Merthyr Mawr, near Bridgend.
Claire said: "I have a racing horse and my daughter has a racing pony and we go there quite a lot. It was on the way back up to the car park. He collapsed and just couldn't get back up. The ground had suck him up.
"I have never ever seen anything like it before and we go up there a lot. I have spoken to a lot of people about it and they said they have never heard of it."
Claire called 999 to get some help, while she and her daughter did all they could to get them out of the sand. She said they were stuck for around an hour before they eventually managed to save them. The experience was described as "awful", and said it left her daughter screaming in fear.
Thankfully, the horses seem to have recovered from their ordeal.
"They are fine now - they are alright," said Claire.
"I just put the post up to make people more aware of it as a lot of people use the route. I've never seen anything like it. I know a lot of people in the racing industry. I don't know what it was - it could be because we've had so much rain. It's quite scary."
