Horse trades at 929/1 before getting up to win race on the line at Cork

A horse that traded at 929/1 in running on the exchanges got up on the line for a remarkable success at Cork on Sunday.

She’stherightone looked to be playing for places when the 16-runner field entered the home straight.

2/1 favourite Lord Gillygooley looked all over the winner when taking an assertive lead at the second-last flight in the Cork Racecourse Handicap Hurdle.

But when the favourite began to tie up and steadied into the last hurdle, it gave the fast-finishing She’stherightone an outside chance.

Having been matched at as high as 929/1 in-running on the exchanges, Denis O'Regan got the 14/1 shot up on in the final strides to win by a head.

O’Regan told IrishRacing.com: "She is very cold and has to be ridden very delicately early on.

"I thought they went a good gallop without going crazy but I have to say, I wasn't happy most of the way but her jumping was so good it kept her in it.

"I accepted maybe I'd be placed turning in and she got going from the last. I put my head down and hoped for the best and thankfully the line stayed far enough away for me at the time and I just got there. It's not the first time she has done that.

"She is getting stronger, wants the three miles and is a credit to Denis Cullen. She is not easy and has won three races now which is good going."
