Sunday Sovereign might get the better of Lorelei Rock in a fascinating duel for the Irish Stallion Farms Median Auction race in Tipperary.
Trained by Paddy Twomey, Sunday Sovereign has been bought by King Power Racing since landing a Curragh maiden in impressive style last month and is the first horse, trained in Ireland, to carry the familiar blue and white colours.
Fourth to Monarch Of Egypt on his debut at Naas, Sovereign bolted-up in a six-furlong Curragh maiden, slamming Ballydoyle debutant Arizona.
Arizona franked the form when landing a similar event at headquarters by no less than eight lengths over Guineas weekend and is a leading Royal Ascot contender.
Although dropping back from six furlongs to this sharp five, Sunday Sovereign should
possess the gears to cope with Michael O’Callaghan’s filly Lorelei Rock, which pipped Saturday’s Navan winner Air Force Jet on debut at Naas.
A three-time winner over hurdles, Eight And Bob reverts to the flat for Willie Mullins and Colin Keane in a division of the Visit Tipperary Handicap.
This fellow scored on the level off 50 when trained by Paul Deegan two years ago and,
potentially ‘thrown-in’ off a mark of 55, Eight And Bob should be tough to beat.
