The admirable Peregrine Run can notch up his sixth win of a wonderful season in the he’llberemembered hurdle as jump racing returns to Thurles today.
The Peter Fahey stalwart is better known as a chaser these days but is still capable of tidy form over the smaller obstacles.
At Cork in July he accounted for the smart Doctor Duffy in a conditions hurdle at Cork and he wouldn’t need to improve on that form to take this prize.
Peregrine Run comes into this race off a fine second to Snow Falcon in a Grade 2 chase at Gowran and before that he finished fourth in the Galway Plate.
All his recent form puts him on a different level to these rivals and he should be able to deal with Elwood.
That one has posted a couple of respectable efforts since coming from France but ideally he would prefer a longer trip and softer ground.
In the opener, Sinoria should be able to make a winning start to her career over fences.
This Henry de Bromhead-trained mare didn’t run any sort of race at the Cheltenham Festival when she was last seen in action.
However, she is much better judged on her previous form and her defeat of the smart Chosen Mate in a Listed novice hurdle at Punchestown in February is strong form.
