Horse racing tips and best bets for Ayr, Lingfield and Newcastle from Garry Owen

GREEN VAULT (3:40) can take another leap forward for Lucinda Russell on Virgin Bet Raceday at Ayr.

The six-year-old clearly relished tackling three miles when hacking up from Sutton Manor at Bangor.

The gelding remains nicely unexposed as a stayer so he can strike again under old ally Alan Doyle.

The thriving Arlary handler can also take the Virgin Bet Handicap Chase with CABOY (2:30).

The 10-year-old was an excellent second to the fast-improving Guetapan Collonges at Wetherby.

The gelding still lurks on an attractive mark so he can gain compensation slightly dropped in trip.

Russell can make it three with DESTINY IS ALL (4:15) in the Virgin Bet Fives Handicap Chase.

The gelding ran another blinder when chinned by the well-treated If Not For Dylan over 2m 4f here.

The eight-year-old was staying-on strongly so he should go one better on his first try at three miles.

The mares’ hurdle looks trappy but I’m backing Neil Alexander’s ATLANTIC DANCER (1:20).

The nine-year-old recorded a career best when third behind Green Vault in hotter company here.

The daughter of Waky Nao is lightly-raced for her age so she can just shade this weaker contest.

Brian Hughes can move another step closer to the jockeys’ title on GEORDIES DREAM (1:55).

Pauline Robson’s horse was a respectable third to Lupus Regem on his timber debut at Newcastle.

That is reasonable form so the pacey gelding should open his account at the second time of asking.

The rider can double-up on Shane Crawford’s promising EL POPPOCHAPO (4:50) in the bumper.

Nicky Richards likes a winner here so I’m on ROYAL ARCADE (3:05) in a tricky two-miler.

The gelding left his lacklustre chasing debut behind when narrowly beaten by Dubai Days here.

The seven-year-old was very unlucky so he can deservedly get his head in front back down in trip.

FRENCHY DU LARGE (3:20) can extend Venetia Williams super run in the novice chase at Lingfield.

Impressive at Uttoxeter, the gelding was even better when hammering Eden Du Houx at Chepstow.

That race is working out well so this likeable type can see off some useful rivals over three miles.
