Trained for Gigginstown House Stud by Noel Meade, the six-year-old has missed two recent engagements due to relatively dry ground.
But, with conditions at Downpatrick described as “yielding”, Beacon Edge should stamp his class on the Randox Health Hurdle.
The selection, winner of his maiden hurdle at Punchestown, failed by a neck to Jason The Militant in a Grade 2 novice at Naas and ended his season with a narrow defeat to Cedarwood Road in a listed event at the same track.
This looks an ideal launching-pad for Beacon Edge’s season. And he should beat Curlew Hill.
Having made a first flight exit at Gowran Park last week, Gordon Elliott’s Tullybeg should make amends in the opener.
