MUTASAABEQ can win the tote Celebration Mile (3.35pm) at Goodwood on Saturday afternoon. While JUDICIAL can land the Listed William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes (3.15pm) again in Yorkshire.
The Group Two feature at Goodwood looks wide open with Godolphin’s classy Benbatl the favourite on his return to action.
Although he has won after a break before, he may have to play second fiddle to Charlie Hills’ improving three-year-old Mutasaabeq.
The Invincible Spirit colt started the season with a Conditions victory at Newmarket over seven furlongs in April and was pitched into Group One company in the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas back at Headquarters the following month.
He ran well enough to be seventh behind Poetic Flare, and his ability to stay the mile was inconclusive.
He disappointed in testing conditions in the Group Three Jersey Stakes dropped back to seven furlongs at Royal Ascot.
Despite that he bounced back to win another seven-furlong Conditions event at Haydock Park last month and remains of potential stepped back up to a mile.
On better conditions and with the three-year-old weight allowwance from his more experienced rivals, he can finally fulfil his potential over a mile and get the better of the aforementioned Benbatl and Richard Hannon’s Chindit.
At Beverley Julie Camacho's Judicial can take the feature, the Beverley Bullet, for the second time.
Plenty of veterans have won this five-furlong sprint over the years and the Camacho-trained Judicial was one of them when scoring as a seven-year-old two years ago.
He is no back number now aged nine and showed that when landing the six-furlong Listed Queensferry Stakes at Chester at the start of the month.
He beat the re-opposing Dakota Gold – who won the Bullet himself 12 months ago – by two lengths on the Roodee off level weights. And despite Dakota Gold having a 3lb pull this time and Judicial carrying top weight, he can come out on top again.
He is better drawn in stall five than his rival and generally a low draw is favoured in this race and at Beverley in general.
Kevin Ryan’s Justanotherbottle – from stall one – will make a bold bid from the front, but Judicial can reel him in to score again
Back at Goodwood Mark Johnston’s VALUE THEORY can come out on top of a competitive-looking Group Three tote Prestige Stakes (1.50pm).
The Middleham trainer has won two of the last three running of this and Value Theory may give him another victory.
The daughter of Gleneagles has won once and been third twice on her three career starts so far. She was third to Majestic Glory at Newmarket in a similar contest last time, but may be able to get her head in front again on this occasion.
Johnston may be able to land a Group Three double with DANCING KING holding a decent chance in the Tote March Stakes (In Memory Of John Dunlop) (3pm).
The three-year-old gelding has progressed well this season with three wins. He was only just denied a fourth success when beaten a short head by Yesyes at Chester last weekend.
He remains in good form and can go close again.
Clive Cox’s ARATUS may bring up a quick-fire hat-trick of successes for the season in the tote Quadpot Starts Here Handicap (2.25pm).
The three-year-old can follow up recent victories at Doncaster and Newbury with another in the seven-furlong contest.
Other winners at Goodwood could be TORVI in the opener, the Tote Placepot First EBF Fillies’ Restricted Nov’ Stakes (For Horses In Bands B, C And D) (GBB Race) (1.15pm); the Michael Attwater-trained LAWN RANGER in the tote.co.uk Handicap (4.10pm); and Hughie Morrison’s RAVENS ARK in the finale, the Access Tomorrows Placepots Early At tote.co.uk Handicap (4.45pm).
Back at Beverley another veteran course and distance winner EAST STREET REVUE can go in again in the Constant Security Handicap (3.50pm).
Tim Easterby’s eight-year-old won this race last year and has shown he still retains ability with wins at Haydock and Pontefract this year.
He has a decent enough draw in stall six and may be able to score again under Duran Fentiman.
William Haggas’ TITIAN may make a winning return to action in the opener, the William Hill Silver Cup Handicap (2.05pm).
Others who may score at the Yorkshire track are the David O’Meara-trained ARRANMORE in the Racing TV Handicap (4.25pm) and another course and distance winner HIGHLIGHT REEL – from the Harvey Bastiman stable – in the Future Stars Apprentice Handicap (5.30pm).
At Nemarket Clive Cox’s ROYAL SCIMITAR can take the feature, the Listed Close Brothers Hopeful Stakes (2.45pm).
Scouse jockey and Liverpool FC fan Franny Norton has a couple of decent chances of victory at Headquarters – both trained by Middleham handler Johnston – with HARLEM SOUL in the Close Brothers Invoice Finance Handicap (4.30pm) and FAIRMAC in the Close Brothers Property Finance Handicap (5.05pm).
Others who may score at Newmarket are Godolphin’s hat-trick-seeking LIVE YOUR DREAM in the Close Brothers Asset Management Handicap (3.55pm) and NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND in the Close Brothers Handicap (Jockey Club Grassroots Sprint Series Qualifier) (5.35pm).
