Horse owner discovered missing man's body in field, inquest told

A dad who had gone missing was found dead in a field in Neath, an inquest opening has heard.

Cerith William Andrew Thomas, of Heol y Coedcae in Cwmllynfell, was found dead in a field in Neath Road, Bryncoch, on Wednesday, October 21.

According to family and friends Mr Thomas had not been heard from since Saturday, October 17, and social media appeals for him to come home were shared hundreds of times.

An inquest into the 29-year-old's death was opened at Swansea Civic Centre on Thursday.

South Wales Police sergeant Steven White said: "The circumstances are that at approximately 4.10pm on Wednesday, October 21, Mr Thomas was found by a member of the public.

"It was in a location that was quite secluded on Neath Road in Bryncoch. The member of the public was tending to his horses at the time.

"Paramedics attended and at 5.25pm life was pronounced extinct. Police attended and do not deem the death suspicious."

Acting senior coroner for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Colin Phillips adjourned the inquest until May 3, 2021.
