Horse killed in early morning crash with lorry in Pembrokeshire

A horse has died after it found its way onto a main road and was hit by a lorry. The incident happened at around 4.45am on Wednesday on the A4777 in Pembrokeshire .

The horse is thought to have made its way onto the westbound stretch of the road near Kilgetty, prior to the collision.

The road was closed for more than three hours while emergency services worked at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We received a call at 4.45am this morning relating to an incident on the A477 near the Saundersfoot roundabout in Pembrokeshire.

“There was a collision between a lorry and a horse and we can confirm that the horse has died.

"Officers left the scene at 8.44am.”

Officers from Pembrokeshire Council arrived at the scene and took away the horse's body.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
