Horse hit twice by Sydney vehicles, dies

A horse has had to be euthanised after being hit by a car then a truck in Sydney's Bankstown. (AAP)

A horse has been hit by a car while being ridden in western Sydney's Bankstown, prompting the animal to bolt and then be hit by a truck.

The horse was critically injured and was euthanised at the scene.

A 35-year-old man was riding the horse on Stacey Street on Monday afternoon when the car hit them, causing the man to fall off.

He suffered leg injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The horse bolted after the incident and was hit by a truck a short time later about 3.5km further down Canterbury Road.

The animal was critically injured and was euthanised at the scene.
