Horse fans can book sleepovers with ponies in a new quirky converted stable

Horse lovers looking for somewhere to hit the hay may want to check out Greenbank Farm in Cumbria.

That's because the farm has converted its stables into quirky accommodation where guests can sleep in bunk beds right by ponies. In fact, you can even feed the horses without having to leave your bed!

The stable has been divided into sections, so you're sleeping right by the horses but you've still got a bit of personal space.

The stable stay includes a double and single bunk bed, a mini kitchen with a fridge, hob and microwave, and an ensuite wet room with a shower and toilet.

Meanwhile, a see-through room divider lets you see directly into the horse's section, where there is an automatic water feeder and haynet.

Your companion will either be a Friesian horse or a Shetland pony, and from the top bunk bed you can reach out to stroke the horse, or even feed it treats such as carrots.

Meanwhile, there will be a luxury grooming kit on offer if you want to spend some quality time with the animal, and you can even opt to help with mucking out.

As for the person getting saddled with the bill? Prices start from £250 a night on QuirkyAccomm.com, and the stables can sleep up to three people.

There are two sections in the stable - one for humans, one for horses (quirkyaccom.com)

The location itself is quite inviting. The farm is located near the village of Cartmel where you'll find plenty of cosy pubs and quirky shops (including a shop dedicated entirely to Sticky Toffee Pudding), or if you've always wanted to explore the Lake District, Lake Windermere is just a short drive away.

It's worth noting that the stay doesn't include riding - you'll need to get in touch with the farm directly if you want to organise this. You can find out more on the Greenbank Farm website.
