Horse charges into bar in France forcing customers to flee in panic

A horse walks into a bar, but this time instead of a punchline, customers were left running for their safety.

Customers were enjoying a drink at a bar in Chantilly, north of Paris, when a racehorse came galloping in.

Security footage captured the moment that drinkers had to flee in a panic as the horse burst into the bar.

The horse's trainer, Jean-Marie Beguigne, said the horse had dumped her rider at the Chantilly race course stables, less than a mile away, and made a run for it.

Mr Beguigne said the horse had a tendency of trying to escape but said it was “exceptional” that it had made it as far as the bar.

“Between the track and the stables, her rider fell off. The filly escaped by going on to the road, and crossing a roundabout before entering this bar. It is all quite exceptional,” he told Ouest France newspaper.

The horse ran into a PMU bar, which stands for Pari Mutuel Urbain – France’s state-controlled betting system.

The bars have counters to place bets and screens that show races.

Stephane Jasmin, the owner of the Chantilly PMU bar, shared the clip of the horse to YouTube and said: “She pushed the door open, and raced straight for the betting corner.

“Then the filly turned around, breaking a table and chairs. We've never seen anything like it.”

There were no injuries and the horse showed no signs of anxiety or trauma.
