Horror two-car smash sparks large emergency service response - two people seriously injured

A large emergency service response was sparked after a two-car smash in Rochdale.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene following the crash on Spotland Road at around 7.30pm on Monday (April 19).

An Audi A3 and a Ford Mondeo collided with each other, police said.

The occupants of both cars were 'seriously injured' in the smash.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

No further details on the occupants of the cars, or the nature of their injuries, have been released yet.

Pictures taken at the scene on Monday show the road taped off after the crash.

Several emergency service vehicles including a fire engine, ambulance and police cars were stationed at the scene.

Both cars appeared to look badly damaged and debris from the crash was strewn across the road.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 7.30pm on Monday 19 April 2021, police were called to reports of a collision on Spotland Road, Rochdale between an Audi S3 and a Ford Mondeo.

"The collision has resulted in serious injuries to the occupants of both vehicles.

"No arrests have been made at this time and enquires are still ongoing."
