Horror stabbing at Ha'penny Bridge as man raced to hospital

A man has been raced to hospital following a suspected stabbing near a city centre landmark this evening.

Gardai and emergency services raced to the north side of the Ha'penny Bridge shortly after 8pm.

A witness told Dublin Live a man could be seen clutching his bleeding torso following the horror incident before he was led into an ambulance.

The man, who is in his 30s, was raced to hospital where is injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live investigations into the attack are ongoing.

She said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of assault that occurred on the north side of the Ha’penny Bridge, Dublin 1 this evening 18 th January 2021 at approximately 8.10pm.

"A man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with apparent stab wounds. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Investigations are ongoing."
