Mountjoy officers say they are investigating all circumstances surrounding the death of the man who is said to be in his 50s.

The grim discovery was made at St. Michael's Road in Drumcondra after Gardai were called to the house over reports that people were trying to break in.

When they arrived on the scene, nobody else was present but the body of the man lay inside.

The victim remains at the scene and the Coroner and State Pathologist will visit the house later this morning.
