Horrific pictures have emerged from the scene of Tiger Woods’ devastating car crash after he was cut out of the wreckage.
The legendary golfer, 45, suffered "multiple leg injuries" when his car careered off the road and rolled over, requiring the "jaws of life" to extricate him.
He was rushed to hospital around 7.12am (3.12pm GMT) local time on Tuesday in Los Angeles, in the US.
And horrendous images show his crumpled car near the Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes.
Footage also showed the Sport Utility Vehicle resting on its side some 30ft from the road, its front end badly damaged and surrounded by debris.
Woods had to be prised out of the car with cutting equipment.
He was the only one in the car and no one else was involved in the crash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a written statement.
Woods' injuries were not believed to be life threatening, ESPN reported citing police sources
Woods’ agent Daniel Rapaport said in a statement he is conscious and undergoing treatment.
He said: "Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries.
“He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”
Woods, who is considered one of the greatest athletes in the history of his sport, had hosted the PGA tour's annual Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club over the weekend.
News of the accident sent shockwaves through the sports world.
The PGA Tour issued a statement from Commissioner Jay Monahan.
"We have been made aware of Tiger Woods' car accident today," it said.
"We are awaiting further information when he comes out of surgery.
"On behalf of the PGA Tour and our players, Tiger is in our prayers and will have our full support as he recovers."
In a statement on social media, Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley wrote: "Tiger Woods is part of the Augusta National family, and the news of his accident is upsetting to all of us.
"We pray for him, for his full recovery and for his family during this difficult time."
A statement from Open Championship organisers the R&A read: "Our thoughts are with Tiger and his family at this time.
"We wish him all the very best for his recovery."
