Horror moment speeding thug driving on wrong side of road ploughs into couple leaving one dead

A horror moment when a speeding driver ploughed into pedestrians killing a man has been caught on camera.

The chilling footage shows reckless Daniel Bracher mowing down a couple after overtaking vehicles on the wrong side of the road.

Despite slamming the brakes of his red Peugeot 207 he smashed into and killed Damien Hubbard, 43, who was was pronounced dead at the scene.

His 55-year-old partner was seriously injured following the incident on Parkfield Road in Birmingham last December.

She has been left with life-changing injuries and will require further operations for some time to come, reports Birmingham Live.

Police arrested Bracher at the scene, who later pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The 23-year-old, of Fairway Close, Bilston, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison when he appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Thursday, December 17.

He will be banned from driving for more than seven years on his release and will be required to sit an extended retest before being allowed behind the wheel again.

Speaking after the hearing, Sergeant Dean Caswell, from West Midands Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: “Driving on the wrong side of the road is inexcusable under these circumstances and the cost in this case was high.

“It took just seconds to make a bad decision and a life was lost.

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died and also his partner who, not only has to deal with her own grief, but faces considerable treatment for her injuries."
