Horror four-car crash on A9 as two people rushed to hospital

Two people have been rushed to hospital following a horror four-vehicle crash in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision on the A9 at Knockbreck, Tain, at 12.40pm on Wednesday December 16.

A man and a woman were taken to hospital for treatment. Their condition is not known at this time.

The road had been closed following the crash, but the southbound carriageway has since been re-opened.

Traffic Scotland advising motorists to use different routes.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended at Knockbreck Road, Tain, at 12.40pm on Wednesday 16 December, following a crash involving four vehicles.

"A man and a woman were taken to hospital."

Traffic Scotland tweeted: "#A9 just south of Tain is CLOSED both ways due to an RTC.

"Emergency services are on scene.

"Please #UseAltRoute meantime. Traffic is at a stand on approach."
