Horror footage has emerged of a man lying in a pool of his own blood after a stabbing by a gang in north Dublin this week.
The man in his 30s was seriously injured after a group of four thugs stabbed him multiple times in the Marewood Crescent area of Ballymun at around 6pm on Thursday.
The scene remained closed off overnight with one witness describing how she was "soaked in blood" following the vicious assault.
Footage obtained by Dublin Live shows the man lying on the cold ground as a paramedic holds a piece of cloth against the stab wound.
Emergency service personnel attempt to stop the flow of blood from the man's stab wounds on his left leg while also using a flashlight to detect any more injuries.
His blood can be seen dripping down the path in the shocking video as a crowd gather around him while he is being attended to.
A witness told Dublin Live: "I was walking up the road, and I saw a gang of youths crossing the road and running. And then I heard a commotion and I heard your man saying, ‘Stop stabbing me! Stop stabbing me!’
"The chap was lying on the ground. They ran off. I noticed these gaping wounds on his hands so I took my scarf and wrapped them up.
"And then the people from the house around the corner got pillowcases and wrapped them around his leg and got another scarf.
"There was blood coming from somewhere. I don’t know if it was the back of him."
She said the man kept going in and out of consciousness as she tried to help him.
She added: "My hands and jacket and all were soaked in blood. It was horrible.
"God love the poor chap."
The witness, who is from the area, said she fears for her safety following the incident.
"I go walking in the evening but I don’t think I want to do it anymore. I just hope they catch the swines that did it.
"I was going to go to work but I’m not feeling it today."
The man was removed to The Mater Hospital where his apparent stab wounds have been described as serious but non-life threatening, a garda spokeswoman said.
She added: "No arrest has been made. Investigations ongoing."
