A 36-year-old man has died after being hit by a lorry in a horror crash on a busy Ayrshire road.
The man was struck by the large vehicle on the A76 at around 3.20pm yesterday, police have confirmed.
Mercy crews raced to the scene between Pathhead and New Cumnock but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cops sealed off the road for more than five hours to allow crash investigators to carry out enquiries.
We told you yesterday that a 50-mile diversion was put in place while the road was shut down.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving a 36-year-old man who was struck by a lorry on the A76 in New Cumnock around 3.20pm on Thursday, 14 October, 2021.
“The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The road was re-opened around 8.40pm and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.”
