Horror crash in Ayrshire leaves OAP motorcyclist in a critical condition

A pensioner motorcyclist has been left in a critical condition following an alleged traffic collision in Ayrshire.

The 78-year-old man was badly injured in the crash which saw him hit a silver Audi travelling along the A736 near Torranyard Caravan Park.

Emergency services were called to scene and the rider was rushed to Kilmarnock for emergency medical care, where he remains.

Police say the 55-year-old man driving the car was arrested in connection with the collision but has since been released.

A police spokesperson said: " Police Scotland received a report of a two vehicle road crash involving a car and a motorcycle on the A736 near Torranyard Caravan Park around 3.05pm on Tuesday, 2 June.

"The 78-year-old male rider of the motorcycle was been taken by road ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment, where he remains in a critical condition.

"The 55-year-old male driver of the car has been arrested in connection with the collision. He was subsequently released without charge, pending further enquiries."
