Horror Cork Street flat discovery as pensioner found dead may have died violently

Gardai are investigating after the body of a pensioner who died in "unexplained circumstances" was found at a flat in south inner city Dublin this morning.

The man in his 70s was discovered at Robinson's Court on Cork Street and it's understood he may have had a violent death.

The scene has been preserved by gardai and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí at Kevin Street are investigating the discovery of a body of a male in unexplained circumstances on the morning of Thursday, 29th April, 2021, at a residence in Cork Street, Dublin 8.

"The body of the man, aged in his 70s, remains at the scene. The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.

"An Garda Síochána has no further comment at this time."
