Horror attack in North Ayrshire sees six men assault victim in car park

A man was left with serious facial injuries after being assaulted by a group of six men in a horror attack last night.

Now detectives are appealing for witnesses following the incident in the village of Springside near Irvine around 9.25pm to get in touch.

Police say the 40-year-old was on Main Road when he was attacked by a group of up to six other men.

The victim managed to make his way home before calling an ambulance.

He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment and later released.

One of the suspects is described as wearing a white jumper and another was wearing light jeans with white boxer shorts visible underneath.

A white jeep-style vehicle is also believed to have been involved in this incident.

Detective Constable Will Thomson from Saltcoats CID said: “The assault happened in the car park outside a shop, which would have been busy at the time with pedestrians and motorists.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, noticed a white jeep-style vehicle or anything at all suspicious, to get in touch.

“I would also urge any motorists with dash-cams who were in the area to please check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Saltcoats CID through 101, quoting incident number 1309 of Wednesday, 24 February. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
